CIRCULAR SWISS MADE
3 min read
As discussed in our previous blogpost, we are aware of, and acknowledge, the contribution of the Swiss made label throughout the years. However, we are now in the 21st century and in our view, it is no longer sufficient.
So what DOES IT COVER?
Local ?
Moving around stainless steel has a considerable impact on the carbon footprint of the watches. While it is common to use Asian steel for the production of watches, our intention is to focus on local sourcing.
Traceable ?
To date, there is no stainless steel that can be traced back to the recycling management facility. The value chain of the metal industry is quite opaque.
Recycled ?
On average, stainless steel is already recycled at a rate of 70%. With our watches, our aim is to further increase that rate.
Would you believe us if we told you straps can be made out of plant-based, recyclable and compostable material?
Repurposing material is at is at the very core of our DNA. With this in view, we have partnered up with other circular economy business models to procure innovative materials.
We have full, direct control over the assembly of our watches. Our materials and parts suppliers are all carefully selected. Such a selection is always based on regional considerations and the need to find people or businesses who share our values
To preserve the value of our watches as long as possible, digital tokens will be given for maintenance, repair and exchange of some components.
We use refurbished automatic mouvements. Robust, easily repairable worldwide, they have the same performances as new ones. Refurbishment is done in Switzerland.
